Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, on February 2, 1977, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is the youngest sibling of her parents' eight children. Her father William Mebarak, who is American of Lebanese descent, and Colombian mother, Nidia Ripoll, both supported their daughter's ambition of becoming a singer.
Why we want her- She's a hot Latin femalePop/Rock singer emerging into the spotlight and conquering the pop international charts. Then there is her cute as a button sexiness.
Personality- It's our understanding she hasn't forgotten her roots and stays very grounded.
Talent- She writes most of her music, which allows her to control its content and style, something she is very keen on. With a talent for singing and an ability to play guitar, Shakira is far from a studio-produced, manufactured teeny bopper. We hear it's a treat to see her live in concert.
